the tyre is just rubbing on the spring, think it may just be these rear tyre have big tyre walls, gonna get some eagle f1s on the back to match the front anyway so will check them then.

im gonna order some new springs for the fronts as they have been cut, im thinking 300pound? does that sound right. also which length would be best and do i need spacers with cesaros?

You wont need spacers.

Fow16v
22-02-11, 07:31 AM
That's good then because I don't like the idea of them. Do you know which spring length is best to run?

Benn
22-02-11, 07:35 AM
I run 300lbs on mine.

Fow16v
22-02-11, 09:01 AM
8" open length benn?

Fow16v
22-02-11, 10:34 PM
ive now ordered some 8" 300lbs springs for the coilovers, still need to fit the front and rear arbs.

but on a good note the engine is now running sweet. changed the crank sensor for a genuine item and its like a dream, no signs of the eml and all quiet. just need to sort a few little bits out before taking it for a spin now :)

Little bit of a **** day on the nova front today. got up off nights and decided i would give it a quick spin around the units to check it out. All was well started up fine first and reverse all fine and out of its parking space where its been since september. Then it went downhill pulled off fine 1st to second taking it easy to find the gearlinkage wouldnt let me have 2nd or 4th. But then even more downhill when i tried a bit of power through it, 1st 3rd and 5th gear all usless as the clutch wont bite.
Bit of a **** but whipped the box off and remembered i was running the 1.4 clutch which is actually smaller than the gte one even tho its the same flywheel.
So bought a brand new clutch from the local autofactors and proceeded to get it changed. the new one is in but run out of time for putting the box back on. will get it done on monday and try again :(

Fow16v

Pancho
28-02-11, 03:06 AM
you need a 2.0 carlton or frontera post 1992 bottom pulley.

Fow16v
01-03-11, 12:07 AM
is that the one to fit the square tooth bottom pulley? gonna hunt the local vauxhall breakers tommorrow and see whats in there :)

Fow16v
01-03-11, 11:05 PM
took delivery of this package this morning, at first i thought that it could be a didgeridoo
http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e369/ryan_fowler1985/Unit/a260f40c.jpg

to my disapointment tho it was my rear antirollbar that i won on ebay last week lol

Had to pop up the unit to have a look at some other peoples cars so whilst i was hanging about decided i would paint both antiroll bars, red seemed like as good a colour as any :D
http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e369/ryan_fowler1985/Unit/8d4817ea.jpg

After i finished messing about with egr valves and strut tops i decided to have a go at putting the box back on the nova. managed to lift it in and get it bolted up but whilst the mounts are out i gave them some tigerseal to stiffen them up so tomorrow when thats dry and the paint ill get everything fitted back up and try again for a test run.

Fow16v
05-03-11, 11:10 PM
not many photos coz im rubbish but managed to get it all back together on thursday night, had a few issues with the gearlinkage but sorted that with a grinder lol. Took it out quickly and the clutch is all good which was a relief.
Friday morning i managed to get some time before work so rolled it out side to wash off 6 months worth of dust oil and crap where its been used as a storage place.

This morning before work i dropped the coolant out and refilled with fresh antifreeze mix. Picked a bottom alternator pulley up of jamie and modified it to fit and then took it to work.

Im so happy with how it drives, it pulls like a train and went after a pug 205 with a gti6 engine tonight and was happy with the outcome :) The coilovers on the road are a little unforgiving tho lol.

After work seen me fit the rear antirollbar, spray the gte sideskirt and clean the interior out. whist doing this don and ev kindly started machine polishing the paintwork as it was really oily and covered in overspray. comes up well for a 22 year old car.

Ill get some tidy pics at teh welsh meet on sunday, and this week im gonna book it in for an exhasut system with gareth down at welsh coast

Good going dude.

How do you think the 1.8 compares to the 1.6 power and handling wise?

Fow16v
05-03-11, 11:21 PM
power wise the 1.6 doesnt compare, the acceleration on this engine is instant and there are no flat spots. handleing wise it does feel heaveier but is completey transformed due to the coilovers. hope to get a few miles in tomorrow and see if anything needs attention

shed-on-wheels
07-03-11, 12:19 AM
well done for getting it done dude my brother said when he chased you in the 205 it went well but any how i will price things up tomorow for you

Fow16v

done 130 miles in it yesterday and it all seems good. need to change the lambda sensor thats all..

and then later on in the day I stacked it, head on into another car, gutted ain't the word. Headlight, slam panel, bonnet, radiator and cross member is slightly damaged too http://www.migweb.co.uk/forums/images/smilies/frown.gif

Most of it has bent back by hand, i will reshape the front valance in a fashion later and fit an sr front bumper.
Slam panel should go back to where it needs to be no problems, just need a bonnet to line it up to. which im picking up later along with a radiator. Headlight is in the post

07-03-11, 04:30 PM
I've been in that position before mate, car infront stops suddenly (had abs), i applied the brakes and slid. Absolutely gutting though, could of been worse though at least it's a relatively easy fix

fowler me and you both mate breaking my gte now aswell but still want some bits e.g coil overs ect alloys lol corsa time

Fow16v
07-03-11, 05:49 PM
really is gutting but breaking it seems to be the sensible thing to do, ive put far too much into it and just cant justify it anymore, engine can be heard running or even driven still. will take it out over the next few weeks

took the car back to the unit yesterday and as i was there today working on someone elses car i thought id try get the bonnet to catch, bit of old exhaust and some bending later seen the bonnet catching on both catches fine. so fitted the old grille to see how it looked. not to bad at all. Forgot to take the headlight with me tho.
