hiya
i bought a backbox for my 1.2i nova but it hasnt really made any difference, so now i wanna try getting rid of the catalytic converter.
I think i could use a exhaust from a carb 1.2, does it have the same number of sections in it? (2 silencers???)
and will removing the cat mess up the lambada sensor, making my car perform badly?

thanks for any help
paul

The front pipe from a 1.2 carb wont make much difference i dont think (i could be wrong!) you could remove the middle box!

ive asked the same question on here, and i was adviced to go for a 1.4 SRi Exhaust Outlet Manifold, 1.4 SRi Exhaust Down Pipes and 1.6 GTE Front Pipe, so as well as taking out the middle box and your new back box, should be a good pick up of power i guess!

you will need a manifold from an injected engine for the lambda sensors!

what type of back box is it though?

removing the cat wont affect the lambda sensor or injecotr behaviour

Removing the CAT will void an MOT on K onwards! If you got a K!

The exhaust will get louder as it cokes up a little! TRUST me on that one! Every one will tell you the same!

this arguement pops up all the time with the usual ''i did this...'' and ''well i did that'' and is never really concluded. got to your local MOT testers and ask them whether or not you can remove the cat from your car.

but everyone will say the same, removing the cat on a car that is meant to have it will fail the MoT!

the only solution is to take it off, but put it back on come MoT day!

my 2.0 16v on a k is fine without a cat

oh, so you can get away without the cat as its registered under the mk1? even though the engine had a cat when it was in the original car?
