electrical problem

I was drivin my '91 GSi the other day and all the dials on the dash died apart from the speedo, which i presume is mechanical. Dash lights all still work, everything else okay too apart from stereo went dead as well. When the car is running and headlights are on, the buzzer comes on when the door is opened.

Same fuse as stereo on circuit!

When it happened to me the alternator went pop too.

yep the speedo is mechanical
