is it a MK1 or 2??

I have 195 50 15"s on mine and i had to do the back arches.

If you go up to 16"s they will most likely be 205 45 16"s and i would have thought you would have to do your rear arches.

Isn't a big job and will get rid of any rust that might be lurking arround that suspect area!!

15"s are the best for handling.

16"s are for looks and aren't as good at handling and slows you down on acceleration.

(go for 15"s less work and best performance)

NovaBoy,

I'm running 195/45/16's on my car. There as close to the correct offset as you're going to get from non vauxhal wheels (apart from speedlines which are the correct offset).

It's up to you Cara, depends how much cash you want to spend and what takes your fancy. If you want, pick out a couple of styles of alloys that you like and I can do some photoshop work on your car so that you can get an idea of what it might look like.

Personally I like 5 spokes, but I'm partial to multi spoke Alloys as well.

Your car, pick what you like :)

Get 17's on without mods on the Civic.

Save up a bit more, get the arches trimmed and get some 18's.

Style? Lenso Shu's are my fave at the moment (for the Civic).

cara - save yourself some money, buy yourself some 16's and nothing bigger... they will look LOADS better than the standard 13s and at least with 16s you know they will fit... coz the arches on the civic are large.

No idea what offset etc you want... but the shop should know that.

Tha arches are VERY large, and can EASILY fit 17's with very little, or almost NO modifications at all (depending on width of wheel and offset).

I think Civics look best with 18's, but 17's are optimum for handling and performance. 16's will still look 'lost' in the arches, as don't forget that even though you're going up 3 inches, the rolling radius isn't going to be THAT much different, as the tyres will be lower profile.

17's would look better (and 18's would look best - though looks aren't the only thing that matters, i guess), and i'd be willing to bet that once you got the 16's, after a while you'd be wanting more. We all do.

Also - the difference in price for a wheel and tyre package in 16" and 17" is usually only around ?50.

For example: Lenso RS5 (another top wheel for a Civic) 16"=?530, 17"=?599.

She has got a civic so speedlines wouldnt fit at all.

17"s are cheaper than 16"s and so are the tyres.

Though you'd have to remove the inner arch linings (plastic i think) and trim the arch lips to lower it 40mm. Or more.
