hi i have a 1.0l spin on a j plate. and i am in the planning stages of taking it off the road and fitting a c20xe engine. but i have heard stories of the o/s engine mounting on a 1.0l being to high for the 2.0l engine making it sit too high and stopping the bonnet closing.

was just wondering wether the only way to cure this is to cut the mounting off the chassis and re weld it lower down or do the conversion mounting kits sold by the likes of chris astley motorsport solve this with out any welding being required.

cheers james

the mounting points on the 1.0 shell is identical to the 1.2,1.3,1.4,1.6 but not the diesel models.

all I can think is that whoever tried to fit it didn't get a decent mounting kit. thus it must have been the cars fault and not his.........

the mount bracket from chris astley will sort the problem out, it comes with 2 hight settings. but u will need a 20lt mount to go with that, dont think the standard 1 fits.
