any idea how much brake horse one of these can take ?

i think i may have a fault with my 1.6 jetted 2e. and im contemplating putting the 1.6 jets into a 1b carb i have (if the jets will fit that is). the engine should run around 85 horse when setup properly if the 1b can handle that ?

the 1b is single choke, and its only a diddly one at that. either sort the fault out with the 2e, or get yourself a webber

dont have any money for a new'un.
a crap carbs better than one that doesnt work.

thinkin about it, some 1.3 sr's came with the 1b and they were 75 horse ? so it should run ok'ish on mine with 1.6 jets in it.
anyone know if the jets will swap across ?

The EARLY SR's came with the 1b, but remember a 1.2 is 55bhp, and the 1.6 is about 85?

It may work if you really kicked up the fueling just with the 1.2 jets.

I think you would really need that 2nd burst enrichment that the twin choke carb provides... my 1600 ran ok on a 2e from a 1300 astra engine, no tweaking done to the carb

i ran a 1b to around 90hp on a 1400 conversion. it was set up well & worked fine.

you dont need to rejet, just drill em out slightly, ie if its a 0.9 jet go to 1.2. thats how you do blade carbs for xe's, drill em to 1.8 mm from 1.4

know anywhere online that does drill bits in those sizes ?

shouldnt have thrown my 1.2 inlet out, ill need one of those to use it, will probably need a bit of gasket matching die grind action to suit.
