hi eveyone i have just put a nova 1.6 gsi into my 1.0L nova it starts but its lumpy and whenits running its popping throw the exhaust and the filter, i have tryed timing it up about 3 times to the marks on the engine but its still not running right, i got it ticking over ok but when i go to drive it it starts spluttering and banging but if you keep your foot down it clears up some times, any ideas :thumb:
Are your plug leads the right way round?

yes put a 2.0L mpi fuel pump in and banging even more, now have a 1.6L spi fuel pump in and its just the same
swop the pump back over to the 2.0l one as the spi pump carnt flow fuel at enough pressure to power the 1.6. Also you must have the timing wrong for it 'pop' back through the air filter the number 1 outlet is marked on the dizzy cap and goes clock wise IIRC.
hope this helps.

adjust the ignition timing?
what voltage is going into the coil, seeing at the 1L only puts 6volt to the coil iirc lol
the 1L only puts 6volt to the coil iirc lol
correct, but it would struggle to run at all, cos the coil wire is used to switch the ecu on.
should be giving the correct voltage through the engine loom anyway, unless he's trying to run it on a carb loom which wouldn't work at all lol

i have just put a 1.6 16v corsa gsi fuel pump into my nova and it has worked, but its still spluttering a little bit, do you's think if i put a 2L fuel pump in, would it work better, i am going to change the dizzy and the leads
