in those days it was down to the particular worker at the reg. office on the particular day with whatever forms the dealer brought in... thus some of the sports had base or L or swing on the logbook. these days its a bit moreelectronic.

I think you will all find that the LXi was called an Astra Belmont estate for some strange reason. It was badged that way too, with Belmont in smaller writing below the Astra badge, CD saloons were badged the same!

if the belmont was basically a saloon astra I don't see what the problem is, all the same damn car anyway lol More interesting than that though on my researching travels I found this:

In order, the cars reported stolen most often in 2005 were:

1. Vauxhall Belmont
2. Vauxhall Astra Mk2
3. Ford Escort Mk3
4. Austin/Morris Metro
5. Vauxhall Nova
6. Ford Orion
7. Rover Metro
8. Austin/Morris Maestro
9. Austin/Morris Montego
10. Ford Fiesta Mks1, 2 and 3

We got 3 in the top 5! Awesome result lol Think it is done on percentage though, I.e if the one ferrari F40 in the country or whatever got stolen it'd be on the top ;p 1 in 13 belmonts were stolen that year lol

Tbh mate, if you knew the history before this thread, you'd know that Nobby and myself and others have bantered about this for ages, hence his title! I'm not bitching or moaning. We use the ;) smiley and the lol smiley, not the  smiley, cos it's all a bit of light hearted fun (well it is on my part anway ;))

It would appear that it's actually you who need to CHILL the **** out. ;)

In that case, we should call it the asstra, as it's an astra with an ass lol

the post facelift astra mk2 estates and saloons are called an astra belmont, the lxi took over from the sri in 1990. the pre facelift mk2 astra saloons and estates were called belmont only. it was post '90 that they became astra belmonts.

Never doubted it was a belmont mate, and a very nice belmont at that. Dont see many belmonts anymore! Its a shame really as i always had a soft spot for belmonts.
