Any DJ Shadow or Slammin vinyl?

Edit: I prefer the crackles and pops of vinyl it makes the tune feel more real. ;) digital tuneage is getting too precise.

Carl Cox three decks ftw lol

I buy ALL my music!

I find CDJ's are more fun than vinyl (I own 1210's as well and **** loads of vinyl) but lets not have this boring debate on here lol

Thing is MP3's have IMO killed the dj scene. There was nothing better than going out on a night and getting eyeballed to a dj playing a mix "probably messing up being off his head" and getting home as it was getting light.
Nowadays it's like clubbers are just listening to a latest mp3 cd that someones mixed at home. Booooring.

Rant over.

Indeed, I dont really care if its the owner of png or DJ Qbert, I tell it like it is!

CDJs suck, and will be the death of vinyl/dance music. As people like to go on youtube and bittorrent and download tunes and as a result the producers lose out. Only real DJs use vinyl anyway. I mix on a local pirate station which has CDJs and Technics and I can tell you the CDJs just sit in the corner gathering dust :thumb:

I'm not banning anyone, don't be so childish lol

TBH, it's much cheaper and easier to buy MP3's than it is to buy vinyl, there's nowhere local to me anymore to buy any and I haven't bought any for about 3 years. I play tech house and techno and places like HMV don't do that stuff. I also get quite a lot of promos sent to me from producers and some labels (by MP3).

I still sometimes take some vinyl to gigs but there's hardly ever any turntables to use!

CDJ's FTW!

You are not far wrong there mate, especially living in north wales. I live near London and out of 3 records shops round here, 2 have closed down. So I understand your point of view.

We've hijacked ollies thread lol

Just to put everyone out of there misery I've found a picture where I was actually using a turntable, you can't really see it though but the CDJ's are visible!!!! lol

no worries kev, haha.
was a long shot anyway, i stopped 8yrs ago, so could only presume things would be out of date!
i have shed loads of vinyl that i want rid of to be honest, alot of it got dumped, but still got a couple of carrier bag full left. hardcore, dance, garage and hip hop i believe

You'd be suprized! :)

The Technics SL-1200 is a series of turntables (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phonograph) manufactured since October 1972

But on a seroius note mate, I'd get on ebay/discogs and check the pricing of the vinyl coz some of the older drum n bass and jungle I have got goes for serious money and I have no doubt it will be the same for your hardcore, dance, gayrage and hiphop.

No problem Ol, no point moving it now we've hijacked it lol

Right, last picture whoring from me, been digging around old pictures now, found another one from the same MOS gig where vinyl is visible! IIRC correctly there were 3 1210's and 2 X CDJ's and a DJM800 (awesome). You've probably figured out that I like the technology side of things a bit more than you vinyl guys (feedback loops FTW!) - check out James Zabiela on Youtube for a taste of some crazy CDJ action.

You are right though, it is nice doing a smooth set on a couple of 1210's, I do prefer to be able to loop things up and stuff though, it's amazing what you can do with a few saved cue points!

I admire the guys who can do beat shuffling (Grandmaster Flash!) and that kind of thing but it's not my scene really.

I just watched some James Zabiela video on youtube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XE39A2hgZ64) and its pretty damn cool and it shows some wicked techniques. But it doesnt even come close to this http://www.facebook.com/ext/share.php?sid=104448441591&h=nYnTw&u=pUsM-&ref=mf :thumb:

and who the hell is the fat controller in the photo above?!

Nice skills, I can't scratch very well tbh, it's not something I need to do with the music and style I play though so never really concentrated on it that much, I can however squeeze 20 songs into a seamless 5 minute mashup :D

Do you have any mixes I can download?

He's a bouncer, I couldn't understand what he was on about lol

Same as you Kev, I would like to be able to scratch but I dont have the need or the skills to be able to do it myself and I dont want to give the impression that I can, because I can't.

One mix recorded eailer this evening.

I think that the CDJs vs vinyl debate has alot to do with music that you mix? Maybe would should contiue this on your poll as its an intresting topic.
