View Full Version : Ask a silly question...
I need to pay for my car tax this month. It runs out on the 31st July, but I can't afford to buy it until the 30th July as that's when I get paid.
Just had a look on the website and it says it takes 5 working days for the new tax disc to arrive in the post, which means I will be driving around with an out of date tax disc for a couple of days. Is this illegal? Or will it not matter if for some reason the police do a check and find out I have paid for it?
Failiure to display is still an offence, so yes, it is illegal.
Just go to the post office with the cash!!!
Lolwut? Go to the post office and get one there and then.
^ I didn't know you could do that. lol
:tard: People have been doing it that way for years, Iirc cavemen used to tax their dinosaurs at the post office, And I'm sure the woman who works at my local P/O used to serve them.
I only passed three months ago, it's the first time I've done this.
Muchas gracious
Lauren, you will need to take your logbook, your MOT and your insurance certificate with you :)

The money :). Wouldn't hurt to have your drivers license on you just incase.
Also note that not all post offices issue tax discs. I think there's a list on the directgov website, but I can't remember. If in doubt, go to your local and ask (before its due of course)
Leave the cash at home, tell 'um to stick on Gordon Browns tab.
