on top of the exact original model, i need to know the spec of the new engine. a gte has a e16se, with a bosch ecu. a gsi can have a c16se with a bosch or a siemens ecu. get me the info & i should have you a diagram quite quickly.

basically you need to carefully strip your old loom from your old engine & label all the connectors. things like starter, alternator, water temp, oil pressure etc will get carrier over to the new engine. there will only be 5 or 6 wires that need adding. the efi motor has its own loom which just needs wiring in, & it is easy to fit. what you need when getting your donor engine is as much wiring from the engine bay as possible & all the ancillaries, so it is a straight swap.

well i have the engine loom ecu afm ect but nothing else from the other car

the only wires that are different for a bosch ecu engine are as follows

you need to connect the:

big red wire to the back of the starter.
blue/red to the efi pump under the back of the fuel tank
black wire to the old coil feed wire
brown/white to the ecu light (i've used the choke light on the dash before)

well i have the engine loom ecu afm ect but nothing else from the other car

you need the coil & the 2 control boxes. the ecu is on top of the afm, & the ignition module is screwed to the bulkhead. there is also a fuel pump relay next to it.

then you need to sort out the fuel tank. an efi one is the best way to go or every time you go round a rh bend, it will suck air.
the gte/gsi pump & tank is the best one to fit.

then you need to sort out the fuel lines. you can use hard nylon or copper ones.

i have stuck my e16se in 5 different cars over the years, including a mk1 astra. I am a bit rusty, but I'll give it my best. and I have a mk1 1.0 with the e16se fitted, sat on my drive, so if in an emergency, i'll take photos
