Blimey, bet you sh*t yourself ? What dog ya got ?
kids mend really well, he'll be fine. the trouble is that dogs only know 1 way to defend themselves.
Scary, glad he's OK. He'll be scared of the dog now.
unless its a stupid breed of dog, I hope the hospital dont report it to the police/RSPCA and have the dog destroyed

thought collie's were usally quite friendy like labs, ive got a couple of mates that have kids and they put the dog through hell and it never reacts
Any dog can snap though. And dogs generally have teeth that can do damage.
collies need about 10miles a day or they get crazy..

collies are a little bit mental, but to be honest most dogs would react in that way, hope he's ok and isn't scared of dogs for life..

my niece jumps all over my rotti and he is a bit sketchy with like adults and he is totally fine with her even landing on him aswell he just looks at her and lays back down
Glad the wee lads ok...
But to people saying the dog should be put down... thats complete crap. Something fairly heavy landed on the dog so that would have been its natural reaction. It will probably be a one off if the dogs usually friendly.

Oh noes! Hope he is ok know, hate it when things like that happen to kids, so scary! It was bad enough when my 8 week old nephew coughed and didnt breathe for like 3 seconds the other day. Was getting prepared for the Heimlich (sp) lol
As for the dog, yeah it was a natural reaction to what he thought was a threat. They are animals at the end of the day and im sure it would never have harmed the baby otherwise. My dog was soft as cheese but even she bit the neighbour's kid once because the kid touched her whilst she was eating.
y. Was getting prepared for the Heimlich (sp) lol
FAIL, if you have any intention of doing such acts to a baby, get your ass onto a baby resus course with the red cross, its only a couple of hours and could make the difference between cocking things up more and saving a babys life.

cheers for the good comments. but as far as im concerned i dont give a monkeys if the dog reacted in a natural way. Imagine if there was no1 in the room for that split second?? for the time it could of taken one of us to get to him he could of severly been hurt. dogs gotta go as far as im concerned.

Sorry to hear about the little un - but totally disagree with this.
If someone dropped something that was equivalent of that weight size, I might react too - and I am educated! :)
If the dog wasnt there, the damage may have been as bad (if you had hard floors etc), so before you blame it all on the dog - think again.
There could have been a dinner plate with a knife and fork on the floor for example and the fork could have done even worse damage....

so in abit of an upside down way, the dog could have broke the babies fall!
Oh no ! thankfully it wasent worse mate, But i also have a collie and if he sits at the side of the sofa even if we accidentialy knock the remote of the arm of the sofa he reacts so its just nature, But thankfully your boy is ok :thumb:

It was a joke lol
Last first aid book I read you hit them on the back and you can do Heimlich on babies but you use one finger I think. My mum had a 1001 things to do in an emergency book that i read when I was younger. But maybe techniques have changed in....god like 10 years!

If I snapped my banjo string, Could you fix it for me?
There's no such thing as a dog that doesn't bite. Only a dog that hasn't bitten yet.
In this case though I don't think it can be blamed on the dog, it reacted in a way that any animal would being taken by surprise and having a heavy weight fall on it.

regardless what certain people think after this i cannot trust the do..
when you say theres no such thing as a dog thst doesnt bite just a dog that hasnt bitten yet..
funny how you then trust a dog till it does something for you to not trust it.
^ of course, people do the same with each other, don't you think? Don't see anything weird about that at all.
