Looking to go in October, and was thinking about going to Dublin, but it really doesn't work out cheap with the return flights, and apparently the cost of drinks there is really expensive at the moment.
So any ideas for a cheap city break? It's for a mates birthday so it has to be somewhere more for the nightlife than the sightseeing. lol

Cornwall (newquay for the night life) in october-Jan FTW. No other tourists, cheapness, fly down from stansted, WIN

I think he wants to go abroad, that's the thing.

Although I have been to Cornwall, me and a few mates shared a carvan for a couple of days and it was a real laugh.

Marmaris in Turkey, I'm going in September with the misses and the weathers meant to still be warm towards
the back end of October!
5nights in 3 or 4 star AI accomodation works out about 230 with flights and apparently its all well priced as
the lira exchange rate is quite good!

I wouldnt be going for dublin if your after a cheap break, Got very expensive down there over the past few years, If you do fancy an Irish alternative then try out galway, Its on the west side. Seaside with plenty of bars to keep you amused. Fly from Luton!!

Went to Dublin for a long weekend with the missus last year. Really nice city, lots to do, good nightlife but bloody expensive (except the flights, Ryanair FTW)! Also I think we only met one genuine Irish-man there, the rest were all foreigners!

P1ssed down most the time we were there too btw lol

I went to prague for my mates birthday few weeks ago, had a wicked time. Great night life, try to get a hotel near old town square we were accross the river in new town so had a 30-40 minute walk back every night.

Recommend going on a bar crawl, gets a bit messy when walking through prague with 160 drunk people lol

Lauren, if you list your main criteria for a good holiday, ie type of nightlife(pubs, clubs, opera etc.) activity or relaxation, sun or rain(uk) then you'll have a better chance of a decent break.

I am not abta registered btw, so no warranties will be given.

Erm, well there does need to be a decent nightlife, mainly pubs but also a few clubs if possible, not too worried about the weather, would prefer it to be nice but as we are looking at going in October I'm not holding out much hope for that. Would rather have a few things to do but again, not too worried about the sightseeing, I'm thinking more of a few shops, things like that. Most of all, it needs to be fairly cheap.
