What are your plans with the engine?

Are you leaving as standard or are you wanting to upgrade it?

In standard form the 16xe's through out the range are very similar but if your wanting to tinker with it, then how Baxter has made the engine is the better layout.

Edit: you read my mind lol

No such thing as a c14xe.

C16xe (early Corsa GSI), X14xe, X16xe, X16xel (astras corsas) and later GSI Corsas had a X16xe just before it was face lifted into the sport.

^^ that aint my question.. lol

i was asking if the engine i have got is a good one to modify?

I know you get different types of 1400/1600 16v engines, but what one (engine code) is the best for power gains?

as i said they only do a x14xe ,

all the engines beginning with an X will requre the chipkey thingy

it is an x"somthing"xe. im guessing it is a 1.4 because most 1.6s had AC. but cant really relly on that. what you want is the c16xe because they have better shaped triangular ports that get better flow. x16xe's have a higher comp ratio which means you cant run as high a lift cam/ advance as a c16xe.
if you have a x14xe, put the head off the c16xe on it as it has bigger valves as standard. either way you still want to get hold of a c16xe

What you want if your going to tune it a fair bit is the x16xel as it has a much better head for flow.

Correct :d As I said us the same as Baxter has built lol

in my opinion the c16xe head is better because it has a lower comp ratio. you can get bigger valves, higher lift/ duration on the cam and advance the timing more as there is more space between the piston and the valve seat and less chance of cliping valves at high revs.

to be honest i have never seen the ports on a xel head. anyone got pics?

if sbd say its a better head im sure its a better head!
