small block, do i need a new gasket or can i just load it with gasket sealer?

I'd always say new gasket, chances are it'll have been on a while and fall apart when you remove it!

New one and back it up with hermetite red.

Being a vauxhall it's probably going to weep anyway!

Do NOT gunk it up with gasket sealent unless you fancy blocking the oil pump pickup pipe ;)

Just use a new gasket and a smear of sealent around it (not enough to make blobs squeeze out and fall into the sump)

use a new gasket, as others have said. Do you have the grey sump sealer at work? if so use a thin smear of that, will never leak again!

Is it a 1.6? if it is, you may need 2 gaskets to sandwidge the baffle plate and they can be a pain to fit

If it was blocked it would of died months ago when i had the engine :p
