What made me laugh were the "courtney prepared" cars at Santa Pod at last years PV Show. The Astra Coupes with courtney conversions were only managing around 16-17 seconds up the strip. I know there heavier than the Nova, but you'd expect something a bit better than that from courtney...wouldn't you?

i wouldnt expect better no.
from what i heard the 'name' was brought a while back and the current owners are not a patch compared to previously

Chris Courtenay sold up to Jon Shield and his missus.

Its a top price to pay, speaking of that 0 did anyone see Mike Mardens folder of receipts @ Trax last year? (Selling his yellow Nova Q522VMF)

Courtenay + LET rebuild to 300BHP == ?6500

Talk about 5hit the bed!

Do Courtenay actually supply the engines too, for that price?

Rick Draper

Ste_Nova

why is it a problem rick???

either use the black wire on the gsi car loom connector....

or tap into it at the ecu end

I should bloody hope so. They do though yes. I think they pick the best one from a selection.... im sure i heard that anyway. If its new im not suprised by that cost, pvd charge ?700ish i think for the parts needed to put it into your nova, so this leaves a good engine at ?3,300. My dads head went on his calibra (also a 2.0 16 valve), and it cost about a grand for that part alone! Also bear in mind i bet that courtney package includes a gearbox etc.

still a rip off, i built a valver nova and from start to finish it cost around ?2500 and that was a bare shell rebuild, strengthened as well full respray inside and out,

LMFAO @ ?700 pvd kits....

I knew you would say something about that ste - how much would you pay for that stuff?

_Ben_
21-02-03, 12:31 PM
Whats included in the ?700 kit...

let me guess, a couple of springs and engine mounts?

Ste_Nova
21-02-03, 01:16 PM
shafts
flanges
wiring diagram
mounts

i'd pay not much.... the mounts can be made for under ?30 (any garage can make them)

shaft solution is to use cav 1600cvs (they are fine on ians car) if they break then look to upgrade

wiring.... it's easy.... or just ask on here

_Ben_

Yeah I spose that is kinda expensive!

its insane to think that people pay them that kind of money.
I was lucky, got my valver in a rusty gsi for ?200, perfect engine, swapped every thing over in a weekend and sold the rest of the gsi for ?220!!!!!!!!excellent!!!!!!!

As a matter of interest, Nick Caro (A5 NJC- BLACK SRI 16V) SUED COURTENAY years before they sold out (I can't comment on details but allegedly for the ?4000 he'd paid, he was less than impressed with the quality and safety aspects......) He commented at the time that home done conversions looked as good as what he had paid for.... I'm not aware of any outcome, but anyone who knows Nick will tell you he is a perfectionist....

I'd never use courtenay after hearing such a bad story.....

I never realised Nick sued them, sweet.

I like his Courtenay bonnet vents mind, in fact - I want some!

I'm gonna have a go at fitting the valver engine in myself!!!!
...and I dont know jacksh1t !!
If I need help then I'll ask for it here, from guru Ste or Brian_S.

Gotta have a crack at it yourself, I think...
