Something is wrong with the amp by the sound of it, how come you changed it did you upgrade it or change as there was a problem with the old one?

just fancied an upgrade, had a jbl 4 channel amp running my sub before and upgraded to a monoblock

Is it brand new or secondhand?

Id fit your old amp and see if it still does it, but check your connections on the amp, the remote wire and power/earth may be touching!

Double check your wires just to be sure then try your other amp, my money is on there is an amp problem!

Dumb question but I assume you're using the right rating fuse for the amp... lol

What guage cable are you using?
What are the power ratings of the old and new amps (RMS)?
Check that your earth has not been messed about with in the change over and maybe re do the connection to be sure. Are all of the bits of cable passing through the bodywork grommeted properly and is all the cable in good nick.

Divide the RMS wattage of the new amp, divide by 14.4 and thats the around the amperage of the fuse you'll need. As Jack says, a fuse which is too small will go pop.

i double checked the wires and theyre all good. im definitely using the right fuse, im using 8 gauge cable, all wiring is in ok condition and grommeted well, old amp RMS was 142X4 and new one is 150X2

It really sounds like its the wrong rated fuse, what fuses are in the amp itself? Even though the amp may be 2 less channels it doesnt mean its current draw will be less.

is it an inline 'gold' fuse on the power cable or a 'blade' fuse? Your minimum fuse size should only be a 25A fuse as you're pulling 300W. Watts divided by 14.4 (volts) equals the amps :-)

still doing it, its the inline fuse on the power cable that is blowing. thats a 25A fuse, and in the amp is 2 30 fuses

Id say try a 30A fuse, the two 30A fuses you have in the amp are for the 2 channels

or ask whoever you bought it off what fuse he was running

righty i tried loads of stuff, tried it on a friends sub and it did the same. i only paid £3 for it (ebay ftw) so im thinking about taking it apart and having a play, anyone have any idea what to do with the inside of it? would any faults be obvious or anything? lol
