When i was spraying bits and peices on my corsa (rip) I asked my local paint specialist for 2 litres of paint. I got 2 spray cans so i could bits myself, and the rest of the paint was put in a can so i could give it to my spraypainter to do the bumper with a proper spray paint gun. That, along with 2 large cans of laquer cost me ?35.

It'll be best to go to a local sprayers and ask them how much they would use. Also see if they have any contact details for the paint/thinners, etc. You might be able to save yourself a few quid.

HELLO! I'm Back from OZ now!

I used a place in Maryhill (Glasgow) called Carrpaints.

I think I spent (not including hiring the compressor, paint gun, line, fresh air feeder) about ?300 on paint and bits. I used 2 pak paint

I got (initially) -

2 ltrs of etch primer and activator
2.5 ltrs of primer surfacer and activator
1 ltr of plastic primer
5 ltrs of 2 pak paint and activator
(I didnt use lacquer but you may need about 3 ltrs for metalic)
(got wet n dry sandpaper - all grades from B&Q/halfords - much cheaper aswell as body filler, fibreglass etc)
Mastic sealer for reattaching/sealing wings etc (professional stuff)
paint seives (pack of 10)
mixing sticks (wooden stirers - pack 100)
paint measure stick
mixing pots (pack 50)
professional masking tape (DONT USE THAT STUFF FROM B&Q) 10 roles of 1", 10 roles of 2", 3 roles of 0.5"
10 ltrs of professional thinners (you need the correct stuff based on weather conditions/spray area for evaporation times and paint being used)
20 pack of tack cloths
5 ltr tin of panel wipe
?100 to get Vauxhall garage to buff up after respray

On reflection the only thing I wish I did was hire or "borrow" a spray booth with extractor from a garage/hire shop. This would have saved me having to respray it due to probs with overspray in the air and subsequent buffing probs.

If youre a confident sprayer and can get the paint/masking stuff etc, I may know someone who can supply the spray booth (m8 in Greenock knows someone who has a car wash with a spray booth in the back) - may be prepared to hire it to you...

Give me a PM if your interested & I'll see what I can do.
