The weight varies a lot depending on the model, they are listed in the haynes manual

so you've saved 54kg or added weight depending on the model lol

Without knowing what's done to your car remember that alloy wheels are likely to have added weight ;)

Stripped out with an XE in it, or still fully trimmed?
My race GSi in "Super Road Saloon" spec was 778kg, but I shaved that to about 750 in "Mod Prod" spec by taking out the seats. It should have been more, but the seats were like swiss cheeses under the cloth!!!!
Steve Quenby's 1600 ModProd Nova was nearer 700kg, and I'm still trying to work out how he got it that light!
My project is to get my GSi down to sun-700, with lightweight panels (every panel!).

anyone know off hand how much heavier a gsi engine is? Obviously there is a lot of weight in the central locking/sunroof/electric windows etc, but some of it has gotta be in that cast intake manifold lol seems theres no weight difference between mk1/mk2? In which case my 'standard' weight should be 735+1.6 engine difference, will have to throw it on the weighbridge near uni sometime :)

There's about another 8-10Kg more iron in the engine, and another 1-2Kg in the gearbox due to the bigger bellhousing.

Some of the ~10Kg in the engine is the flywheel, which is much much heavier than the 1300. The block is taller. The 1600's factory cast iron exhaust manifold is massive compared to the 1300. But junk that and use a BTB system (the only one that really works, sounds nice, and lasts very well)

Don't carry a spare wheel or jack, could just have one of those tins of tyre weld spray.

Its the shell that makes the Gtes, GSis and SRis heavier, thicker steel and the odd bit of strenghening.

You should be able to get a lot lighter than that, 640kg is possible with a 16v! ;)
