Sounds you you have a new career working for an advertising agency!!
Made me think of them radio ads etc when I started reading it lol
Had a career I enjoyed, they went down the swanny so moved to try a new career..... only been here 3 months but it sucks balls thus far
theres no point me working for a different firm as i the job im doing is boring lol making plastic was interesting the first few months but now its same old same old
i have had loads of jobs really, laminated floors, painting and decorating, building work, van driver, fitting taxi meters, scaffolding didnt last long as scared of hights, now im a forklift driver been doing it for 4 years now, hate it,well the firm i work for, gonna do the knowledge soon as you work for yourself, plus dont answer to anyone,go to work when you want,so thats my next plan see how that goes if i dont like it im fooked lol
but got my eye on going into porn lol
I guess my "career" is IT, as thats what i'm trained in and what I've been doing for the past few years. Certainly wouldn't mind looking into other fields, but I'd be at a loss with what to do - I like doing hands on stuff, making things, but I'm a crap with mechanics and don't fancy the build trade. I'd like photography but I'm nowhere near good enough and the market appears to be already somewhat flooded.
I do quite like my job at the mo - travel, not tied to a desk, work with decent people (well, some of them), flexible hours, relative job security, not a bad wage. Can't be doing this forever and a day though.
I HATE customer facing jobs where I have to pretend to be nice to everyone, although I've got good customer service skills I just can't be doing with people. I've been offered a foot in the door of security work with a security contractor - would be door work, personal and site security which sounds quite good, mainly as I wouldn't HAVE to be nice to everyone all the time LOL
Something involving writing would be nice as I'm good with words. I'd do journalism but I hate journalists lol

R.J, that's summed up my job perfectly!
I would love to get into Mechanics or into ECU programming ect, somthing to do with cars or bikes :)
I would love to change career,im a window fitter by trade but have been doing all sorts of rubbish for the past year since the trade died.Just started my own business recovering cars as a last chance saloon before going to college to do plumbing or similar.Trouble is college is no earnings and work based learning is £80per week.Hmmm how do i support my mrs and 2 kids on that wage? Its not happening is it. We are living at her mothers at the mo (me,little girl and mrs whos expecting our 2nd).I need to earn enough to get us out of here ASAP! But unless my business takes off then we are stuck here.
Im fed up of crap jobs where the gaffers show you no respect and expect 150% off you for £150 after tax in return:tard::tard:
What annoys me most is that the cost of living is forever increasing and wages never accomodate for these increases thus leading to debt and in some peoples cases eviction

I love my job :d Just hate the people, lack of money (not had a rise in 4 years) but only 3 miles from home, so traveling isn't expensive.
I'm a Graphic Designer at a litho printers and have been with the same company for 10 years.

i deliver kitchens and bedrooms for b and q, the money is good but the hours are stupid plus with all the lifting and bending i managed to slip a disc in me back, i get paid for 48hrs a week but to earn any overtime i have to do more than 54 so for them 4hrs i dont get paid, i would love to re-train as a mechanic or engineer but cant really afford a drop in wages
I thought owt over 40 hrs was classed as overtime?
ECU programming
What I used to do... trust me its not as much fun as you think it is. Its still a laugh from time to time, but generally its dull

i started as an TV aerial rigger couple months back, never done it before but been in electrical/alarm/cctv business for past 5 years. enjoyin it at the minute, im a "people person" just like meetin different ppl all the time. i goto between 3 and 8 different houses a day, so i see quite a large cross-section of society. im a practical person, im good at on the job learning and learn best through kinesthetics, and enjoy problem solving, all of which are covered by my job.
i get to chat poo, drink tea, nosey round ppl's houses, ride round in a van, used power tools, monkey about on roofs and get paid for it. im happy (for now)
Ive been a valeter the last six or so years and its not too bad if you dont mind cleaning cars but the motor trade is quiet at the mo so i switched to parts a while ago but since its soo quiet ive ended up valeting again rather than sit on my ass all day listening to talksport (or talkshoite) with the lazy twunt in parts, id love to switch but theres not much im particularly qualified to do so its a case of sit tight at the mo and see what happens, plus leaving my work right now would be a bad idea as ive been there longer than most of the other staff and can turn my hand to anything in the dealership id say im more job safe than the rest of them, whereas if i left for somewhere else i wouldnt be as safe!
I like what I do. However I couldn't explain the enjoyment it brings.

Just a programmer.
Think I remember you saying somewhere on the forum before actually. Something that always interested me but never enough to follow through into a career, learnt a bit of 'basic' before the thing I was writing had an epic fail and I couldn't be arsed restarting it lol
I think only wierdos actually like programming. I like alternating between the different disciplines as well as combining them. Like building a web page that runs off of a database that is updated via another program running somewhere else. Then another program installed on someones computer being able to send a http request to the web server, get a response. Then connect to another location and download something baised on what the web server told it.
I am currently working on building a WPF app that we will use to manage the companys software builds and then enable us to publish them to the web with a click of a button.
Hopefully my rotating programming interface will be published in a few months. Thats quite funky.
I always found it interesting seeing 'behind the scenes' as it were, got totally lost with arrays though so I was fairly useless lol I found the basic programming on the PS2,think it comes on the demo disc thats in the box? Was just something I liked messing about with really.
I have gone from job to job in many many industries, chopped finger off, been shot at, been on tv etc etc.
but couple years ago had enough and made a complete turnaround and finally got a job where i get paid good money and can work anywhere in the world, had to make some big sacrafices in the meantime but definately worthwhile and now i can reap the rewards.
Oh, one other thing thats cool about what I do is that I am in R&D for a peripheral company, so I get to help design and play with some really cool cutting edge stuff. If I told you about the secret things I am working on I would have to kill you lol
However Ben's job is way cooler. Radioactive man!

Its very boring in reality, just good rewards.
When we meet, this is what it will look like

all i read there was 'blah blah computer stuff blah blah....'
all i read there was 'blah blah computer stuff blah blah....'
Aye, it's all people hear when someone gets me talking about what I am up to. Computer people are odd. Lee has poped around at the wrong time before and had to endure the explination of how what I am currently working on works. Poor sod.
I will now shut up:)
EDIT: However Lionel is the wierdest!
The question everyone wants to know though, do you have a little desk, or do your feet dangle off the chair? lol

This is true The programmer I work with is a complete freak of nature.
i was actually the second best computer programmer at Bosworth College (desford Leics) during my O level years back in 84/85. I hacked the bbc computer based network to get all the teacher's passwords & had free rein on all the files. I won quite a few graphics/animation competitions.
the best programmer was so unworldly that he didn't even know when to get his hair cut or when to take a bath unless his mum told him to...
but his graphics & user friendliness was pants.
I got bored with BBC basic when I realised there was beer, girls & vauxhall novas so I never did an A level in it. I much prefered to get my hands mucky by playing with vehicles
The question everyone wants to know though, do you have a little desk, or do your feet dangle off the chair? lol
I have a big desk with lots of stuff on it......and I have a box to put my feet on. However my work setup is pants up to what I have in the office at home. Well I have a faster machine at work at the mo, but not for long.
oh you've no idea how much I'd love to change my job - I trained in model making and special effects 15 years ago - worked in London for 6 months at the height of the last big recession in the early 90's and after the project I was on finished couldnt get anything else. Ended up moving back up north and taking the 1st job I could get (working in a call centre for British Gas!)
Been in call centres ever since - some 15 years! Worked my way up and get a decent wage for the work I do but I'm so frustrated its unreal. My degree's now out of date and so are most of the techniques I learnt. I'm p1ssed off with myself for not making more of an effort but tbh when you have a decent ewage comning in and job security certain priorities take precedence over "job satisfaction".
However as my gran always said - "What's for you wont go by you" - just need to keep an eye on the job sheets...

Spent 12 month training as an engineer, wasn't for me.
spent the last 12 or so months in an office, the most hateful & soul destroying job i can think of, most of the people i work with are spine less back stabbing **** tards, i can't be even slightly myself and i'm at a desk 12 hours a day doing the same thing, usually about 2/250 times a day.
Recently wanted to go to university and study materials but seen as all i did in school was be a ****, no chance of that happening.
I'll have a pint of bitter please.
Been drinking and I have decided that if the money is ok. I would like to be chief taster for Black Rat cider....please!
lol at dar!

I work at Debenhams as a Sales Assistant on Accessories! Debenhams is so corrupt I wouldn't be at all surprised if someone told me the owner was Mugabe!
I had a warning letter last month because my returns rate is too high! Basically, For every £100 I sell I return £69.90! WTF I work Sundays and sales and if I customer wants to return something I cant exactly say no sorry my returns rate is too high!!!
Anyway, I finish my degree at end of August so will be out of there by end of year! I'll take anything in mental health!

I went from School > College (whilst working part time in Boots, did have a job at Millets for 8 weeks then jacked it in as it sucked). Then, after college, worked for a year at a movie memorabilia company doing an NVQ which was great even if the money was poo - I had various stints running the poster department, mailroom an spent a lot of time working in the photographic section so got a good handle on using large scale printing machines and enlargers  Ironically the only thing I didn't get into was the design & computer bit upstairs but they were typical IT geeks and didn't want an outsider joining their ranks lol
After that I went back to college for 2 years to do a HND in IT (I'm still working at boots part time btw). Passed the HNC year, flunked the HND year as I spent most of it in the pub - however I did use it to teach myself (yes, myself) basic database design and HTML. Claimed a job at the local council in the education department, supposedly doing "database admin", but turned out to be data entry. Left my boots job partway through this, after being there for ~6 years as I didn't really need the money. Quit the council after less than a year and moved to the MOD where I did IT support for Apache IPT. Stayed there for 2 years, got promotion a few months after my supervisor retired and I had to do both mine and her jobs; moved to WRAM support in Yeovilton where I still am now, doing hardware support for the Navy's helicopter maintenance database. Its great as I'm a certified Unix admin now, an have learnt more doing this than anything else previously, including my college courses lol

That jut reminded me. I got offered the job as a brewer for Spingo about a month ago. Unfortunately I was munted at the time (on said ale) and just laughed it off.

I've been fixing, installing and building computers and laptops for nearly 9 years now. I started in october 2000 by doing work experience for a local company who took me on part time and I went from there.
I enjoy the work but the pay is crap unless your work for yourself. For the most part I avoid the customer facing side, which definately makes the job more enjoyable.
I've considered reskilling and doing something else, but if I do decide to do that, it'll be once the economy has settle down again - right now I know I'm in a job.

I LOVE MY JOB!!!
Planning an internal change next year though :)
Hate my job some times but have been in it 4 years and have no other skills, Pay is over the nat min (£6.08 p/h but not paid more for O/T or weekends).
I work for Sainsburys but started when it was still Bells Stores (I work in a convenience store not a supermarket) In the north east they went by Bells stores further down south the went as Beaumonts and Jacksons.
