Perhaps you could sort out that passenger side rear arch, it does look quite off putting. I think the photo which shows the damage might well be making it appear worse than it actually is - the reflection in the paint gives the appearance that the arch is mishapen outwards.

I would definitly give it a good clean, then take a ton more photos of it. Take snaps that show the engine bay, interior, any damaged areas and also any areas that are the usual nova rust traps - if theres rust there or not. The more details you give the better.

The ad keeps on saying how much of a giant slayer it is. This makes it sound like you may have thrashed it to within an inch of it's life. Go into more detail about the parts, say what make suspension kit, air filter it is etc and detail what your engine rebuild entailed.

Don't forget we are in the midst of a recession and people who, pre-recession, bought sub 1k cars (like myself) are probably skint.

Sort the spelling mistakes too to lend your advert a bit more 'gravitas'.

Change the advert though mate, it may put the potential next owner off! The spec sheet will speak for itself for someone looking for a quick car :)

tbh id say that would be worth £300 to me, not much more for some other users

meach86
15-07-09, 05:28 PM
i was hoping someone would mention the price wouldnt i get more than that for breaking it thought???

General Baxter
15-07-09, 05:32 PM
well the only things worth selling is

engine with all bits £300
front bumper £40
skirts £20
window surrounds £20
brakes £15

thats about it lol

meach86
15-07-09, 05:35 PM

Doubt you would see more than £400 in parts TBH. Ebay the car if you want to sell it whole?

As said above.

1st impression - the Porshe beating comments put me right off,
The pics show it covered in dirt, grime & brake dust.
Your advert is poorly worded with spelling mistakes.

I for one would not buy a car from someone who can't spell.

meach86
15-07-09, 06:06 PM
I can understand what your saying about the write up and pics but why wouldnt you buy a car off someone who couldnt spell lmao

AlexW

because id assume your an uneducated little toe rag that will give it the beans to impress the laydeeezzz..

Give it a good clean, find a decent location for the pictures, re-write the ad, use a spell check if you have to..

A big factor in selling any car is the advertisement.

i just sold my Rs turbo within a week of putting it on ebay. people are still buying its not as bad as its made out to be :thumb:

Exactly, plus the fact nobody really wants to buy a car from a child..

Likewise my mate sold a £4k Astra GSi overnight last week. List it intelligently.

Just to add, the taste for Novas nowadays has gone back to original looking cars, the Purple paint probably isnt helping but luckliy it isnt a nasty fibreglass kitted montrosity, so hopefully people will see through it....

Reason it selling = its way overpriced and it looks rough.

Simples.

admittedly, it looks like a typical chavved up boi racer car, and tbh, no one will believe you if you said its not been thrashed,

maybe put it back to standard? std rear lights? good ol clean and make those alloys sparkle, its bloody filthy! lol

jimbob-mcgrew
15-07-09, 07:59 PM
drop it to £400 and you might get some interest, it would probably go for more if it wasnt modified.

bmw156
15-07-09, 08:05 PM
i wouldnt buy because:
colour
smooth boot
modified usually means ragged...
is dirty
wheels are horrible lol

like people said give it some good tlc and just say whats needed on advert, people can view it and ask more questions...

i didnt fully read the advert, but is there any service info about it???

AlexW
15-07-09, 08:46 PM
modified usually means ragged...

LMFAO So in other words a car with a aftermarket bee sting ariel means it has been ragged, even if the rest of the car is standard...

A good ragging now and then keeps the engine in good health too, clears the ****.

Reason in one!

Sold a 1990 SR last year for £375 in a lot more presentable condition.

Drop the price or break it in my opinion - its worth £300 in my eyes, not even SR engine!

I agree with AW06 like i said im not hiding the fact i have drove it hard on occasions but why have a quick car if your gonna drive like an OAP

I know it looks crap the paint etc i like standard myself but i bought it as a 2nd car and because it was quick for what it is i cant help the fact it was modded back in the day can i

Keep the opinions coming though :thumb:

note i said usually...

and bee sting ariel, you are being stupid... but if you only need a bee sting ariel to try and impress boys, then ill let you have one...

and i bet 90% of people on this site rag there cars.

i can admit that i do, o and at least i get a chance to rag it

Try and sell the car as opposed to putting it in a for sale add. There is a difference.

Wash and Polish it, leave it sparkling, take some flattering picutres to accompany the add, then a few of the parts needing attention and a few of the interior and engine bay. Its not rocket science mate.

BTW, if you were closer, I'd have it.

Rysee
15-07-09, 10:32 PM
Get some better wheels on it, I've got some Corsa GSi wheels with good tyres for £30 and I'm not far, guarantee it'l look better

If it was more original i'd be having it off you

I for one would not buy a car from someone who can't spell.

That made me rofl, so if someone who lives 5 miles away with Dyslexia had a one owner gsi with 15k miles for £500 you wouldnt buy it out of principle?

have a word with yourself!

the wheels will fit over 2ltr brakes, its not selling as its too overpriced imo

Leeboo
16-07-09, 03:02 PM
Defo give it a good clean before taking pics... that makes sense really. The reason its not selling IMO is because it could end up fairly expensive after fixing the arch. Also you say its not the best shell, so quite dear for a so-so shell that needs body repair

Don't get me wrong, I'm sure its nice when clean
