Alternator on XE

Hi,

when looking from the bulkhead forward there is a spade connector on the top left of my alternator - only prob is the wire is not connected. Anyone got an idea what the wire is for?

Cheers, so that's why the battery is flat lol Odd there is no battery light (it does work) would this make the starter fail? Although it does seems like the starter is dead and works when you give it a thud

starter solenoid/relay is sticking, and you don't get a battery light when it's not connected up properly/funked, as I found out recently lol

You will probably find when the battery is charged it wont stick, the battery probably has not got enough charge/ampage in it to turn the car over, results in a clicky noise or a clonk lol...

Only reason i know this is because mine fell out and my battery died on the motorway LOL ECU dropped below 7volts my god did it backfire lol, found the wire and managed to get home after a jump lead session :)

ok got the ign/live sensor on, jumped the car started took the leads off and she kept running (wasn't before so looking good). Switched her off and fired back up - so went for a 15 min drive and switch off and went to start and nothing.... the batt guage when driving is halfway and when I'm trying to start is at just below a quarter. No click from the starter motor at all? Any ideas?

Went to start today and no power at all. Got the batt and alternator tested and they're fine. Going to change the batt earth strap cause it looks worn but the others are fine. Seems like the starter must be dud and maybe a live draining the battery too? Any other ideas?
