e16se ecu light

when i am driving round normally, the light stays off.
when i give it a bootful, the ecu light comes on at about 5000rpm, & when the revs drop off, it goes off straight away.

when i stick my gunson ecu thingy on it reads 1 2 which means no fault..

the gunson book does tell me to turn the ign off, fit the connector, and then turn the ign back on.....

any ideas?????

I presume youve tried the normal paperclip test?

Cant think of anything that would affect it that high up the rev range lol

I know you did it with your gunson machine but wonderd if the old fasion way would make it put out any other codes.

you connect 2 terminals & then look at the light on the dash, both work, but the gunson is a better way of doing it without shorting it out on the body.....

well, it makes all of the usual nova gte noises at tickover, and it doesn't suddenly misfire or bang.. occasionally it hesitates when i press the throttle, so maybe the throttle pot or the afm need looking at, but high rev power seems fine.

I just don't like warning lights coming on, then going off for no warning...

john, it still just flashes 1 2 ....

should i be trying to switch the codes on when the engine is running???

thats what im thinking, mikes did this at high revs as the plug wires kept on falling out lol

the hall sensor will only work with the engine running mike :)
