View Full Version : another problem
driving the nova this morning all was going well. A few miles in i heard a grinding/rumbling noise coming from the N/S wheel which got worse i as sped up. Didn't get any worse cornering though.
Any ideas?

wheel bearing possibly
Could be inner CV, but check to make sure theres nothing rubbing, could also be the brake binding a bit.
have you checked your front brake discs and pads?
pads could be worn out.
brand new calipers, discs and pads so doubt its them, could be cv joint. how do i check it?
if the nosie goes away when cornering then its a wheel bearing.
it doesn't go away it just doesn't get worse

Don't drive it.
Jack it up and see if there is any play in the wheel. Also spin the wheel and put your ear to it. If you hear a weeeeerrrrrring noise it's probably a bearing.
Also take the wheel off and double check to see if your pads are catching, if they are brand new they may still need bedding in.
unlucky for me it happened on the way to the retest. lol Checked play in the wheels last night and they seemed ok?... could it be something as stupid as not tightening the wheel up. My mate put the wheels on and i never checked them? lol
Usualy if a wheel is lose you feel it through the car, not the steering wheel as i found out, seemed to be coming through the floor and pedals.
bugger! so wheel bearing or the inner CV joint or pads. not had a call yet from the mot station.
