Took place at the Donegal International Rally 2 weeks ago. You can see a Photographer run as the car came towards him mid fly/spin/precrash, thats my mate Ted. He got some fantastic pictures that I'll post up later.

The man that owned the house was an elderly chap and was standing accross the road. A marshel told him he was lucky, the old man asked, how the **** was that lucky? The marshel said "It could have been a timberframed house". lol

He wasnt even going that hard, he was well down the field of the Mk2 Escorts. As for the Tween Caams, I'd sooner a Mk2 myself, they've been done to death round here and tbh, dont have that much power as standard. I cant see the attraction myself.

iirc, thatparticular twin cam was XE'd. :D

Or was he actually going hard, Maybe just the fact that the escorts have mega bucks spent on them (Not saying the corolla hasnt btw) Is Lurgan park near you Dod?

Dod

Its about 90 mins from me mate. As for the Corolla, it wasnt the best example out there, if you look behind the steering wheel after the crash you can see outside through the dash and bulkhead and if you watch the dash and even the steering colume precrash you'll see its not fantasticially put together.

Bloody hell yeah, Just noticed that after watching it again! Ahh I bloody love the Lurgan Park rally.. Your a jammy sod being over there.. I know a few people from over this way & they've all said that the rallying over there to here is completely different.. People are so much more friendly.. Plus is it true theres no 'Noise test' over there?! LOL

Thats about right, another thing to note is that the next car on the stage stops with the Corolla to make sure the driver and Co-Driver are alright, all good friendly Irish Sport.

put up a video of the tedsport rallycar with the 2.6 millington engine and tell me thats not the most impressive ae86 in ireland, that beats the mrk 2s no problem,
the attraction is nothing got to do with power and i find people that dont like them have never owned 1 or just never driven a good 1, a bet if you had a lend of 1 for a day youd fall in love with it..

I've always had a big soft spot for AE86's and have never driven one. As far not much power from standard, neither have 90% of the mk2's IMO.

heres 1, 8k worth of a gearbox and probably the guts of 20k engine to buy

I had one whenever I wanted it. Ok its **** out fun but sure you'd get the same thing from a 500 quid Sierra but it'd probably be safer and have less fibreglass and filler in it.

I dont know the AE86 you're on about mate, you got a link to the Vid?

Also, all the Mk2s are untouchable, wasnt there one in the Fermanagh Forestry Rally about a month back beating all the WRC cars until it crashed out? Camillas Bradley's XE'd mk2.

The escorts have crazy power. Look at the Isle Of Man rally thats just been. Gwyndaf Evans result would of made him 5th overall in the International results!

@dod have a look in the link i posted above your last post...
if your follow irish rallyin at all you should know the car mate, its beatin the wrc cars aswell
look at the go of it at around 2 mins
all ae86s arent just drivin by lads who do rings in macdonalds car parks lol

I know the car to see but I cant say I've seen it too often. Problem with the AE is they're too light and not really strong enough whereas the mk2 has been tried and tested for near 35 years and they're still going strong.

Well said, Plus the 'scorts are much better looking!

i love the ae86 but agree with dod on the lightweight etc
as much as i love the escorts too i'd have to pick a ae86 imho

Dod

No way at all!! I'd have a mk2 100 times before a Corolla.
