right well it was gonna happen sooner or later, have sub, 6x9's and front standard speakers. Unfortunatly front standard speakers are now pretty much dead. Distorting like mad and just sounding like shit :( SOOO need some new ones like, i dont know whether to find some half decent ones that will slot in existing speaker holes (if there are any....) or go for some different ones and make new home for them to live in ie door cars or footwells etc
What you lot think?

i would get some good ones to fit in the original slots.
some of the better speakers produce fantastic sound from that size.
I had mine in my door cards :D

Mine are the same but i just fade it to the back speakers more so you dont get the distortion from the front. Does anyone know how to get the front drivers side speaker in and out of a Mk1 dash? The left is got to from behind the glove box?

You can get at it by removing the clocks.
not sure if there is another way.

i cant actually remember the size of the originals - i think they are 4"
You would have to have it confimed by somethough...
but if i am right about the size...
Alpine SPS-1029S
Infinity Kappa 42.3i
Pioneer TS-G1046
Reputable companies - prices between 25 and 60 quid.
Like i said though - make sure the speakers are the right size first.

removing the fuse box and the clocks and gettin a small neighbour with even smaller arms to sort it all out is the way :D
get 5" in the doors, take off door card, cut a hole, screw em in, bobs ur uncle, get sum good bass from em too.

apart from the fact that they would then be behind the damp course, and would get wet that is the best bet

as olly says
what u wanna do is after you cut your circular hole in the weather mebrane / plastic sheet, then using another carrier bag or summat slightly stronger plastic bag, make a cone / sphere and silicone sealer it to the existing membrane
Or make a pod so that the only part sticking through is a little of the magnet, that way the speaker will get air but no wet!
Buy one from www.quadconversions.com or make from MDF! Looks great and can be finished nicely

But for those who dont wanna pay 90 quid for some pods and have no idea what to do with MDF... and dont feel confident cutting holes in things and squirting silicon gel around...
what would you suggest for those people?
coz there must be some.
well, not much choice left. dont have front speakers
