View Full Version : bit of help removing gsi steering wheel

hello has anyone any good advice about how to remove a nova gsi steering wheel ive add a pick below to show what im up againt ive had a crow bar on it so far with no joy and ive had it in a vice an smacked it with a lump hammer lol no joy also ive stud on the wheel and give it a good yank :cry: i have to keep the steering rack in one piece if i can because the lad want it back i think if all else fails ill have to use TNT an blow it off lol

got to say that i dont own one of these pullers so im a bit stuck ill take it over to the body shop on monday an see if they can help

get 2 seats, back to back, sit the wheel on them facing up the way with the coloumn pointing to the floor then hit the shaft in the centre of the wheel with a hammer should pop out.

ill see if my mum is willing to lend me two chairs hopfully she'll get two back if i dont go hammer crazy lol

support the wheel, undo the nut so that it is right at the end of the thread then pour boiling water on it, followed by hitting the bolt with a hammer & drift (a socket extension is good) it should loosen the wheel

literay have it wedged somewhere and smack the shot out the middle make sure you have the bolt on a couple oif threads otherwise it will fly
