well i should be going to my first 14 mile very soon. ill be driving my corsa (sorry) xe its bascially standard but very low mileage. ive 15" cavvies on it.

what sor of times can i expect if i get a fair few runs in as i am a novice atthis? what psi should i run the tyres at? is it realy worth stripping out the interior? should i tape over the seams at the front?

Strip it out, tyres at about 28 - 30psi and expect 14 - 15 seconds at a guess.

Jim's right, it depends on your engine quality and driving abilities mate, but id say first time 1/4 your looking mid 14's to low 15's

The interior weighs more than you can think, Take everything out from behind the front seats and you kill alot of weight which will get you better 1/4 times and as corsa have sips (click Here for more info (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Side_Impact_Protection_System)) but with a standard C20XE expect 15's (which is higher than my 1.6 is expecting lol)

has anyone actually weighed what they strip out? sod it i dont use this car for the roads and have no intention of ever having passengers. i'll strip it and keep everything in my shed and if i can get som good scaes ill even weigh it all to find out what difference it realy makes.

Look at the VIN plate on your Nova to see how much it weighs standard I cant remember how much it is but its ALOT less than most cars of its size, You can pick a Nova up on the rear end by hand (NOT ADVISABLE AS I FOUND OUT NOT LONG AGO!) But Nova's weigh about the same as 42 Heinz baked beans tins! Lol

as above mate depends on how well you can drive and how your engine goes!! high 14s to low 15s ;)

I thought about it, but being pernickety about whether or not someones had a slash ' / 'or not is what I do when out with my kids, & this forum is an escape from that

OH and that car won't put itself back together........ get out on that driveway

TBH all this is a lot of fuss/waffle for nothing, no offence mate but you have a standard XE Corsa, your not going to be pod king, go and have fun and do your best, see what you can do, then start thinking about getting more serious.

Strip everything out you dont need.
Stiffen the rear end up.
Do as many runs as possible to get the launch right.

its so you don't knacker your road tyres & steelies are cheaper than allys.
