I am 18 i have no no claims but have had no accidents.

I have a 1200 at the minute and i am getting a 1.6 16v engine to convert to.

but i cant find insurance anywhere the cheapest i have got is ?5199.87 TPFF !!!!!!!

has anyone else had the same trouble getting insured on a 1.6 engine
at my age?

a mate of mine was insured on his 1200 with liverpool victoria for ?800 with 2 years NCB, when he rang them and told them that he was going to convert to a 1.6 engine they only charged him an extra ?30 for the whole year. This was becuase they didnt see it as a bigger engine, but as a engine modification.

as has been said before - check through the back of max power and revs etc and try phoning companies advertising there... they are companies sympathetic to your sort of car.

LV wont insure u on engine mods until ur 19 m8.

Wait till 19 much more options avaliable to u, keep it 1.2 till then and LV will insure u, or try flux and HIC or ven CIS or tesco

Numbers and more info to be found on the guides on the site under "other"
