what size tyres do you use on astra gte wheels. i have 185/65/14's and they look like tractor tyres!

185/55 r14 look fairly good on my 14" SR alloys, maye that would be ok on your gte wheels

185/65/14's is what they are standard, 195s go on so theres plenty of choice, id go with 185/55s personally

185/60's or 185/55/14's I'd go for mate :)

go with 185/60 or 185/55/14's, 60's will be cheaper

just remember ( dunno its been mentioned) that the profile is a ratio of the width, so a 65 profile on a 195 wide tyre will be like doughnut.
a 65 profile on a narrower, 165 or 175 tyre wont be as chunky.

im refurbing some 14" SR steels later in the year and ill be fitting 175/50x14 - you find these on fiat seicento's with abarth wheels.
