Unless it's been changed recently minimum wage only applies to over 21s. So basically, whatever they want to pay you.

No its tiered
16-18 - £3.80ish
18-21 - £4.85ish
22+ - £5.52
That's what they were last time I worked somewhere that tried to pay less than the minimum.

Nope, rates apply to 22 and over (£5.73 an hour), 18-21 inclusive (£4.77 an hour) and <18 (£3.53 an hour)

GTFO do people seriously work for that ****!
LMFAO Owned literally!
Indeed.
Interestingly, NMW doesn't apply to the armed forces - whilst your average matlow/crab/pongo gets a pretty healthy salary, they're considered to be employed 24/7 so their hourly rate is sh!t lol
Im shocked that people actually get paid that, think im a bit out of touch with reality (not thats anything new before any jibes)!
my first job paid £60 per week......and before anyone puts a link up to the hovis ad, it was in the days of colour tv & decimal money......

lol i used to earn about £100+ a week selling dodgy stuff out my locker at school aged 13.
Well, I was half right, £3.80 an hour / whatever they want to pay you = pretty much the same thing. lol
I used to do all right at school too, buying/selling air pistols and knives for the most part.
Imagine trying to do that now! lol
when i was at morrisons, i was on just over 6 quid and i was 20ish, and time and a half on sundays.

lol the amount of people who sold stuff out their lockers,
PMSL been there, done that, got expelled lol
No lockers at my school! :O Bag FTW.
Novaboi, tell me more mate. lol
the day I left school was the day when I had the most cash I've ever had. I lived in a smallish village & was the only teenage lad for about 2 miles. I had every paper round, mowing job, pet sitting, stable hand, farm worker and pub job that was going.....I miss those times a lot

I think having it tiered like that is abso crap!!!! I am 21 and work at Debenhams for 5.75 an hour, time and a 1/3 on Sundays but I think its so stupid.
I work far harder than any of the women that have been there for years. They stand there and piss and moan about their bad backs whilst I do all the lifting (doing my back in in the process).
Why should I be paid a pound less an hour than my collegue because my mum happened to give birth to me one year later than her! But she stands and chats all day whilst I do the work. How on earth does that make sense?
The elderly are forever going on about age discrimination but we get it too
Any apprentices out there on less than minimum wage, if you are 19 and been working for a year (i think its 1 year) you are entitled to minimum wage.
I found this out last year, you will be entitled to claim back what they havent paid you since you were 19.
