Say i went and got fia parts today. how long do they last? or is it different with each part like seats 5 years and fuel tanks 7 years ect?

different for each item. they are all dated as to when they were manufactured. but they only obviously apply if you are attempting competition, or log-booking your car. road going vehicles can have these in for many more years without neededing to replace them,

The FIA approval is a 'homologation' IIRC.

The manufacturer, lets say Sparco, in the case of some seats may have paid the FIA to test & pass them & as such approve of the product for motorsport use. That homologation certificate may last x amount of years & subsequently Sparco would have to pay the homologation fee to further endorse that product after the date in question.

Same thing as Thatcham approval on alarms.
