Are you sure you are 100% correct?? How much more does a roof skin weigh when compared with the FG variant??

Thank you Rick
But it must weight abit less surely
I honestly cant imgine it losing much more than half a kilo... and for the faffing about involved you might aswell goto the gym and lose that yourself.
or put half a litre less fuel in
Well Ill soon find out how much it will lose. Seeing as ive got a sunroof i have to change it anyway
ahh an unfair comparrison lol
No because ill weigh it without the sunroof being there. just the skin :p
so there is a chance that the cf/grp skin could weigh more as there isnt a sodding great hole in that ;)
Yes but ive planned this out you see. Ill weight the grp then the skin with the hole. and then cut out of the skin the same size hole as the sunroof and weigh that. then that will = a whole non sunroof skin :D :thumb:

it was maybe more directed at being able to weld the cage fully rather than saving weight lol

so i though if had the roof off may aswell put a fibreglass one back on lol
Bingo. That's what they're intended for IMO.
Obviously when you have a full weld in the roof no longer stregthens the chassis so you don't need one at all. Hard core. lol

thats slightly too hardcore, i would freeze my nuts of lol
any one got an info on fitting or removing ??? who has actually fitted one ? :thumb:
Spot weld drill will be your best mate for removing the OEM skin lol
Giving me ideas now, clear polycarbonate roof skin. lol

As said spot weld drill mainly for removing oem skin, The new cf/fg needs to be bonded to bare metal then filled/tidied were necessary before paint. There is a special glue needed for it though. After keying up all areas, We apply the glue, fit the skin then it can be clamped on the front and rear edges overnight to cure. We've been bonding them for years and never had any problems to date.
Nick.
tbh you say about the cold but come on. if your building a "track car" who cares. It wont be that cold time your going round the track

What about the rain, if water gets on your hair it might go curly lol
If i were to do it i would go about it as Nick has suggested
Im a hairdresser i could sort it out lol
I dont care about any flaws it may have. if it is lighter im having it. dont care if its 1kg or 10kg it weight saving!

I would cut the old roof off leaving a 1inch rim to bond the new FG item too, oh and could mods do something where anytime the words ''where can i get'' and ''fibreglass'' come up in a post it is automatically edited to say magnummotorsport.co.uk
