Erm, it'd be cheaper and easier to just replace the whole car! Swap the engines if it really is such low mileage.

Whoops i forgot these beauties!!!

http://homepage.ntlworld.com/m.wootton/content/bill/10.jpg
Yes that is the drivers side arch lining which is ALL rust held together by the rubber underseal on the other side

http://homepage.ntlworld.com/m.wootton/content/bill/11.jpg
this is the bottom of that arch lining at the jacking point. Dont think we'll be using that to jack anything!!

http://homepage.ntlworld.com/m.wootton/content/bill/12.jpg
The arch lining on the other side. still rusted but not as bad as the opposite side.

:D

are you actually going to try and patch it up?

wisewood
15-02-03, 10:06 PM
although the satisfaction of seeing it mint again would be nice if you done it all yourself i would rather reshell the engine to be honest...

thats a lot of hard work!!!

rustboy
15-02-03, 10:09 PM
Ive jacked it up loads of times off that jacking point, ent fallen apart yet. Its gonna take me a while to sort it all out, got the mig welder coming on wednesday tho, so that'll be fun :D

Haha Bill that's a joke...so much for your car being mint and laughing at Matt's rust!

Everyone thought my MK2 Polo was a shed because things fell off it...at least the bodywork was in one piece!

Seriously Bill I wouldn't even dream of driving a car with that much rust on...not because I'm a snob or anything, because if I had an accident, the car would not be able to offer a lot of protection. i know you get your MIG welder soon but I still couldn't live with a car that's bodged together. I knew you were stupid with things but you cannot be this stupid!

15-02-03, 10:43 PM
honest m8 re shell that is devo ive never seen ne shell that bad, it will save u money in the long run and will be safer! i would say that shell is unsafe

rustboy
15-02-03, 10:50 PM
If after ive sorted it all out the shell is unsafe then i will re-shell it, but after all the work ive put in so far i dont wanna give up just yet.

15-02-03, 11:10 PM
Bill, why would I deliberately crash into their fence? You plonka!

No if you need any help you know where I am...I've helped Matt out with a few things, more theory than anything but I'm still a help!

:o Sorry m8, but from what i can see your wasting your time! If i was you i'd defo have to reshell it cos i've never seen so much rust on a nova!!! Either that or put a 2.0 16v lump in it without a strengthening kit and watch the torque rip the sheel apart!!!

MattyWoo
16-02-03, 12:19 PM
Basically young william is a tart and however much u tell him summit he will do what he wants anyway.
In my opinion its stupid patching up all that stuff cos at the end of the day u paid less than 400 quid for it so its hardly worth thousands is it.

dan16v
16-02-03, 12:39 PM
to give you an idea i paid ?200 for a kplate 1.2i shell it still had the lump in etc! was more or less mint! so its easyer safer and cheaper to reshell!

TWAG
16-02-03, 05:37 PM
My first nova was the same colour as this and had just as much rust, i hope u didnt pay to much for it like did!I scraped it before i had passed my test. Now i got a nice tidy one, its in the 1.2 section (craig bridle) take a look, comments welcome.

it aint that bad, people should see some real restoration projects.

If you find a escort mexico in that condition youd be loving it.

Good luck.

Have seen a lot worse to be honest, you can patch it up... but like has already been said its gonna cost a lot more than buying another shell. Just an example i spent thousands on my blue shell, and now i'm gonna be lucky to get ?500 for it on its own.

There are extremely mint novas out there these days for pennies, you just have to go out and have a butchers around!
