can they get stuck in the guides so the cams wont move them?
or can the tappets block up to the point they don't move the valve?

Dont think so, will your cams not turn?
Are the cam caps the right ones for the head? as the cam caps and head are matched pairs.
cams turn, everything is as it was when the engine worked. but now the ****er wont start: http://www.pngclub.com/forum/showthread.php?t=121382
If the oil pressure wasn't hight enough could that stop the engine from starting?
im trying to explore more options...and im going crazy :(

Does it turn over? Or just not start?
You could have no oil pressure and it will still start.
unless its been run and seized, cambelt snapped or slipped teeth

yeah it will turn by hand, it turns over on the key, all injectors are firing, all plugs are sparking - the sparks look strong enough ( i think), fuel pressure seems fine. but it just doesn't fire into life. There's pops from the exhaust now and then, usually when I turn the ignition off.
cam belt is good, not been touched.
Ive tried taking off the air mass meter connection to fool it into limp mode but the doesn't work either.

If its popping out the inlet possible bent valves or just the timing is out. Leads in the right order?

I'd say the belt has jumped.
Find TDC & check the pointers/markers on the cams line up.
just to check what is the lead order on xe NON-dis pack engine?????
it's not marked on the dist.

number 1 is usually marked on the inside of the dizzy cap and the order goes in the same direction of the rotor arm.
Ok sorted it out. Leads were on wrong way :(
Now it starts and dies after a few seconds, fuel starvation I guess.
Ive checked the fuel lines and there's no kinks or blockages but could larger diameter lines cause any problems?
