cheers mate.
basically rebuilt c16xe
custom manifold, and flange.
t2 renault 5 turbo for now.
custom inlet maifold
3mm laser cut spacer plate with 2 head gaskets making roughly 5mm space which put the compression down to about 130 irrc.
running .6 bar of boost and seems to be doing fine.
split a waterpipe on the engine and melted the headgasket the second week i had it finished, wasnt a happy chappy lol.
hoping to get management next and if it all go's pete tong will invest in some low comp pistons but until then trackdays it is lol.

You can get a similar style one (just as good really) For £137 (iirc) on corsa sport, some dude makes them up on there.

jay, after all that work, you bodge the ecu in a plastic bag lol
Will be hidden soon with scuttle panel cover or i may extend it and put it inside the car.
im just want my car to drive nicely again, since putting a 20xe in its drives awful and is quite unreliable.
dont want to go back to 1.6 8v, and not everyone has 1.6 16v
Trust me the 1.6 16v isnt reliable! Its a pig of a engine but fun when it works. You could put a 16xe in and still have the same problems. sort the 20xe out!

Meh! Any engine is as reliable as you make it. If it's second hand and had a hard life it's bound to be more trouble. It's the reason I had mine fully rebuilt - a 7700 rpm rev limit makes that a necessity.
I agree it's certainly a fun little engine though!

im sorry but mine was in adams white car, that had a very hard life, even had gravel trap all over it,
the only thing wrong is a ****ing leaky rocker cover lol
And the ecu after you had held it in your hands.

You know what I'm getting at though! I don't think they are a particularly unreliable engine at all lol
May as well whore while I'm here :)

Oh and mine is reliable now ive changed the ecu, Only thing wrong is a dodgy CTS, but what do you expect from a old engine!
i would aswell :) well already have so oh well
