speedo and rev counter way out!

Drivin to the mot garage this morning and the rev counter shot to 2k with the ignition switched on. Driving it, the speedo shows 40 at 30mph.

How can i fix this?

could do with trying another set of clocks in your car , or your clocks in another car fella , rule out that its not them first

I think its when i was messing with the clocks (putting the the mileage forward).

If you did it the "pikey" way, you've probably knackered the speedo drive.

did you just put these in your car?

If so the needles are on wrong, simples. just put the ign on once the RPM pings up to 2k pull needle off & put it back on zero, then with the speedo pull the needle off pop it on straight down, push it CLOCKWISE over the stopper and it should be ok, then just double check with satnav or a mate driving at 30 in front of you.

If its recent then you need new clocks.
