I've just been reading the exhaust-mods section on the Performance vauxhall-
MIG website. Their techies say that only cars made after August 1993 have to
a CAT fitted to be road legal. They say that if your car was made before that
(like mine-1992) u can DECAT your car and perfectly legal, plus they say u get
approximately a 5% power increase.
Can anyone back this up or advise
me on where to find info on this, as i would really like to DECAT my car.
Cheers,
Tony.

I was told that if I de-cat my GSi(late 92) I would fail my MOT, but I also have heard the same as you, I think it would probably depend on where you get your car MOT'd

I have a '92 Sri, with NO CAT, and i was told i would fail my mot, but i was also told that its ok not to have a CAT, so long as your emissions are ok. But it passed that week anyway..

Can i de-cat a 92 k-reg sri? Or would it fail an emissions test? Demon tweeks told me that the police would do me if i was caught with no cat on my car driving on the road.

if your car has a cat and it is a j reg you do not need the cat to pass its mot. If your car is a k like mine you need the cat for its mot or it will fail. Hope this helps. My cat converter blew up on so now i have an anti cat on it.

So if i decat my car and it passes the MOT, but i
then get stopped by the pigs and they try and do
me for not having one, can i just wave the MOT
in their face and tell them to go and fuck themselves.
Or can they still do me?
Any ideas. Also those of u that have
decatted your cars have u told your insurance
companies???
Cheers, Tony.
