View Full Version : The Missus Nova Project.
Right i thought it was about time i got some pictures up of my missus nova.
She bought it off of ebay a month or so ago with 12 months Mot and 12 months tax for £200.

The shell is in overall good condition with no rust on it. the only bit has been fixed by the previous owner which was the passenger arch and it wasnt dont very well. Think it was a quick fix to get MOT on the car tbh.

Some pics of the main rust hitting places as ive not got alot of pictures.

Tiny bit of surface only rust in the battery tray.

The car had been broken into at some stage in its life as the drivers door is bent and it has no ignition barrel. The head gasket had also gone.
http://i706.photobucket.com/albums/ww64/gsi_jimbo/Meishas%20Nova/P1010357.jpg
The pull switch in the dash is how you start the car. (have a new coloum(sp?) and barrel to fit)
http://i706.photobucket.com/albums/ww64/gsi_jimbo/Meishas%20Nova/P1010358.jpg
i changed the head gasket the weekend of when we bought it and found the head had alot of damage to it where it had been run Hot for some time so we decieded in chucking a C16XE in it.
So as the C16XE is being delivered tomorrow i thought i better make a start removing the C12NZ. How i started.

Looks a tidy motor and cheap enough especially having t&t.
You do realise the c16xe is going to be better than yours :)
You mean it will fail NBC... like all the others lol
I remember seeing this on ebay, mate was tempted by it but too far iirc.
Cant wait to see the 16v in.
its not going to fail AW06
NBC its not going to be better its just going to be finished a long time before mine
Looks great for £200, going to clean up the bay etc while the engine's out?

New engine in and running haha
http://i706.photobucket.com/albums/ww64/gsi_jimbo/Meishas%20Nova/P1010369.jpg
The engine was abit of a pain to get into the bay as i only have a little 1.5 ton jack which doesnt lift the car that high so i had to lay it down and drag it into the bay then up right again.

Had a slight accident lowering the car down as far as we could (slipped off the jack) luckly i put the tyres under the sills.

Comments Jimbo
currently waiting for the guy who sold me the engine to send me down a new loom for it as the one it came with is hacked to shreads.
Then i will be looking at wiring it up (with help - Anyone offering to come down lol)
Just got to take a trip to the scrap yard for a couple bits and peices
Coolent hoses, Throttle cable, Split pin for the linkage, astra Mpi fuel pump, alternater belt
so then is there enough clearance on the alternater or does it need more room than that?
Not to sure
So far so good on my first conversion :)
That clearance is fine, Mine is the same!
Good work jimbo!
cheers mate :thumb:
all in all ive spent about 4 hours removing and then putting in the new engine.
But i estimate a couple weeks to wire and plumb it in lol.
Mine was 4months start to finish lol
well nev da nova said if i "needed a hand" in the fitting a c16xe thread in mechanical.
just lost his number lol and his pms are full.
Will get hold of him thou as im not 100% sure what everything is needed for or where it goes.
Pay my fuel and il be there next weekend lol Now lets stop filling your thread with rubbish :)

No rot that I've seen/can remember) £40? has a couple of scrapes to corner of the vinyl where it's been moved about, and the grab handle will need swapping (which you'd do anyway to keep the original key, so)
