over use and hot weather
It does it straight away when driving tbf the hot weather can't help but it shouldn't be as bad as it is
The Corsa CD player got hot as soon as I connected it on the drive

earthing/wiring problem?
was going to say mine overheats in the cav as its not located in a good position for the heat to escape, but thats only after about 4 hours of solid high volume.
I could run a 2nd earth somewhere onto the body i supose?

How long have you had it? it could be that the insides are starting to break down, to be honest i would stop using it for safey resaons. By a new one
there are three reasons for this... either the radio is Forklift trUCKED or the alternator is over charging, or the earth strap is knackered,
The alternator is doubtful as i can change the idle of the car by winding my windows up
The radio could have had it i suppose

well, the regulator diodes could be knacked, and that could over charge the system.............
would overcharching show any other symptoms?

classic symptom of a dodgy alt is that.

why dont you just check it .should be 13.7-14.3v whilst running. would more likely to say the radio is on its way out. them sony stereos have dodgy F.E.T s inside . have seen a few of them burn out .
I'll test it in the morning. After this no more Sony for me
