hi im putting the bearings in my c20xe but for some reason the centre main wont fit. it fits to the block but is too wide for the crack. they are oversized bearings as my crank was ground.

i have the early type...could i be given the wrong ones?

is it the wrong shell ie the one with the thrust bearing face. do your other shells look the same?

its the one in the centre with the sides on. it fits in the block but it wont fit to the crank its as if its to wide so the crank wont drop in

easy mistake..., you have had the crank ground to take over size bearings (025, 050 or 075) but the machine shop hasnt taken into account the oversize bearing has an oversized thrust (you can buy oversized bearings with standard size thrusts too) pop it back to them and take the bearing with you, they should be able to do it while you wait.

or...., if it looks like it should just about go in, get some 1000 grit paper, some oil and rub the thrust side of the bearing over the oiled paper equal amount on both sides til it fits. (make sure you throughly clean the bearing before fitting)

hi thanks for that...that was one of things we were thinking but didnt know you could get ones that would fit the crank as is. it took long enough to get hold of the bearings so ill go get the crank ground.

cheers for your reply

not at all. just had the crank fully ground as it was scratched and needed the oversized. obviously in time we will get some good hp out of the engine but for now im hoping for 180-190 maybe a little bit more
