whats the best thing?

whats the best thing to clean off all the grease and soot off a gearbox,as want to paint mine at the weekend,i went in halfrauds last night but they had run out of the stuff you clean engines with,want to know what people have used in the past,i know alot of elbow grease is involved,also do you use just normal hammerite metal paint on,or do you need a heat proof paint

i went to the carwash with mine lol people looked a little weird, but it works. just a few euro spent on the engine bay cleaner option, and she was grease free.

petrol works good mate then jet wash it off or alloy wheel cleaner

i shall be trying some gunk or jizer on mine over the weekend , the jet washing it off , ill let you know how i get on lol
