Hi,
Looking for an opinion.
I have taken up some insurance via a broker on the nova, I dissclosed all of my details correctly, personal/vehicle etc etc, told them at the end of the convo that my NCB is being used on another vehicle.

My last policy used a mirrored NCB, and at the time of purchasing the policy i was not told that i could not use/NCB would not count, im no expert so thought this was the norm when insuring a second vehicle/ and was not advised other wise even though i conversed that the ncb was being used on the m3.

Sent all the bits off, drivers licence copy/ mileage reading/ cert of ncb only to get a letter back a week later saying additional premium will be required unless i cancel the m3 policy to free up the ncb!

This has been going on since the 22/06 so i have not been able to use the car since then for fear of being uninsured so im paying for a policy i cant use.
Have been waiting for them to review the voice recorded tapes. They have now done this two days ago after around 5 phone calls, and are putting it down to '6 of one, half a dozen of the other' when it comes to the cock up. Anyone know where i stand? Ive payed the premium in full, and have been told all scripts were followed by the insurer (but at no point was i told my NCB would count for fook all unless i finished my other policy), I disclosed all my info honestly/correctly and told them my NCB was being used on another vehicle.

Thanks for any advice!

Sounds like one of my policys, i take you get nothing if you cancel aswell?

Sounds as if by sending them your ncb they have included that on the policy, then after 14 days they will do nothing to amend the policy free of charge?

I think theres little you can do this time round but pay the extra :(

What an extra £500 on top of a £460 policy!

Will PM you Lee.

Looked again through the small print and its not black and white so may get sorted. It states 'I declair to the best of my knowledge and belief the information given in this form is correct and complete in every detail'. Which in all cases it was!.

I believe you should be entitled to a 14 day cooling off period where you can cancel the policy and obtain a full refund.

Considering they've cocked up, I think the least they can do is honour that. You could always seek advise from the CAB or insurance ombudsman as to where you stand - if you made it clear the NCB was being used on another vehicle (I always say something like "I have 0 NCB as its all being used on another vehicle", usually if they offer discounts for experience or mirroring they go on about it at that point) then they've mis-sold you the policy and could be in bother.

Assuming thats with the policy documentation? If it says 0NCB on your info then they've boobed.

Also worth checking the small print for THEIR cancellation terms. Often they have a "we can cancel at any time without warning" clause.

Yes its with the policy documentation, it says 6yrs ncb on the document, but as said, i stated that the ncb is being used on another vehicle.
There was a 14 day cancellation period but this had already passed, the small print does say i can cancel the policy if needs be, but no doubt i will loose money!, and yes also states they can cancel the policy their end.

Set it up as an official complaint if you havn't already. Did the cooling off period expire while they were investigating the telephone calls etc? Once you've gone through their complaint procedure you can then go through the ombudsman.

They rang me up today, very pleased with the service from HIC, they are going to cancel with the old policy, and have set me up with a mirrored policy for £480 fully comp, agree'd value, like for like and salvage rights.
