Hi,

been looking at these wheels and wondered whether they will fit a lowered nova on coilovers with no arch mods. The offset seems quite small compaired to what ive been told i need. They are ET38mm

How low? The tyres will most likely rub on the arch lips...

well id like to take advantage of the full drop now and then so a rough 60mm all the time. we can remove the lip its more for the clearence on the suspension

I will rub being et 38. Nova et is 49. You'll wanna roll the arches right back flat.

et 38 will rub on a standard height hatch when under load or cornering. lowering will just make it worse.

your best off sticking as close as you can to the original offset which these boys have already said which is et49 the lowest you really wanna go is probably et45 if you intend to use 195/45

i'm running et38 golf gti wheels at the minute with 185/60 14's, no scrubbage issues with a 60mm drop all round. if your running a 3 door (spuare arches) then i'd imagine theres less room for the tyres, as the fronts sit right to the edge of the arch

I had 195/45/15 on 15x6.5 ete38 Oz wheels back in the day on my old hatch. 60mm front, 50mm rear and no rear seats - minimal scrubbage on back, but I couldn't have anything heavy in there.

well the car is being stripped out so yea no weight issues. Its more for full lock because my mates nova c20xe on full lock hits the gearbox slightly and he has cav slabs.

am i right in thinking the lower the number on the offset the further the wheel sticks out? so a 38 sticks out wider than a 49? if its shallower then cant i use spacers?

Bit of a novice on bits like this so im sorry.

Yep, lower number essentially means the wheel sits further out. Don't forget its all dependent on the wheel width too.

You could use spacers to push the wheel out if required. You probably won't find an offset higher than 49 on most aftermarket wheels, but again due to different wheel/tyre widths you may need a spacer on wheels with a lower offset.

Thats normal on an xe as the gearbox is alot bigger. It can be reduced by centering the steering rack prior to doing tracking.

ah right thats useful...the car might be lower but its a hell of a lot lighter. Still going with 15 inch so not too big.

spoken to chris astley today when i nipped in for parts and he said that they will be fine as long as i dont lower the car too far or put it under excessive load. that will do for me!
