an sr will, for some bizarre reason that i still ant figure out, be cheaper to insure than a 1.2 or even a 1.0, was like that when i was 17 and i'm pretty sure its similar now, as my 1.2 was more expensive to insure than if i'd have got an sr

Thats down to claim rate mainly - as there's more 1.2s about, and they tend to be driven by younger drivers who smash them.

If the £900 for the Mk1 is the same policy setup as you want the SR, I'd look at about £1200ish.

well its cheaper for me to insure a 1.4 flair, than a 1.3sr, directline said NO for good sake!

these were my quotes,

1.0 = 1200
1.2 = 1250
1.3 = 1200??
1.4 = 1750
1.5d = 1500
1.5td = 1750 The one i have :D

yet if it says sr, sri, gte, gsi then its a straight no even though a 1.5td will kick the 1300sr ****!

Madness!!!
Me on a 1.4sr is about 1000 i think next december when i get my 2 year NCB... i'm 19 also...
It mite actually be cheaper than 1000

Or if i keep my 1.2 another year my insurance goes to 700 quid lol fully comp.

EDIT: This is baring in mind that my very 1st year was 2000 TPTF!! rip off!

Some claim to, but if you try and take it to a different company they won't take it, and the original company will obviously fork you over for the standard no no claims rate -50p for having your 'no claims bonus'. Heard of a couple friends of friends etc finding themselves in the situation!

£1850 on a 1.4SR at 19 is worth it?

Are you on drugs? lol

Yes, but thats never really honoured by other companies, so you get "stuck" with the original company who can then charge more than if you had proper NCB and went elsewhere. Remember the insurance buyer's greatest card is being able to take their business elsewhere, if the insurance company can remove that they'll love you and charge what they like lol

Thats a decent drop tbh, especially with your postcode. Told you it'd be worth it in the long run :D
