on the BHP side, is there a different measure of bhp for cars and bikes, so my 44bhp bike, would it still be 44bhp in a car, is it just weight that affects it if it was in a car?

bhp output is the same - I' not sure what your bike will weigh (about 200-250kg plus yourself?) so you're looking at a pretty good power to weight ratio regardless (power divided by weight) maybe 160 brake per ton? A new Lotus Elise S has the same, but obviously your gearing will differ!
