the one at the pod was based on a 4 door saloon. it looks better cos you get to fit a bigger b post & it looks more in proportion than the 2 dr ones, because the bigger door just dominates

I have pondered the job myself because I have a soft spot for mk1 golf caddy pickups

if you cut down a hatchback to do one, I will be on the first bus to Blackpool to hunt you down

Rickyb

no i was thinkin a less usfull model like a 4dr loon
and im the same with mk1 caddys there just to expensive to buy lol

my bro had one in 1988. he blew up the original diesel engine & we couldn't find one for love nor money. a good friend owned a breakers yard & I stuck an 1800 carbed scirocco engine & box in it. it flew... 120mph with 1/2t of sand & our tools in the back etc.

ive often thought of buyin a rotten one and repairing it but i never have yet.

i was thinking that but does it not leave a gap at the bottom or anything? have you got any other pics of yours other than the ones earlyer in this thread??

burgo
20-10-09, 10:01 PM
yes it leaves a gap but you just panel that in

Southie
20-10-09, 10:06 PM
I agree with Burgo with the astra boot section but surely you could do similar to the babyblue nova with a manufactured bottom section to fit to the Astra boot lid.

20-10-09, 10:10 PM
how do you go on with the insurance when you convert a car to a pickup? also do you need to tell the dvla?:tard:

as for the insurance its really rather simple!!! you tell them

blacknovagsi
20-10-09, 10:28 PM
yeah but does the car/pickup have to be registered as another vehicle as strictly speaking it's not the car it was before?

burgo
20-10-09, 10:29 PM
no its still a nova so doesnt have to be re-registered or owt. my estate conversion is down as a "other body modification"
