And 14 hours to rebuild it and re-fit it?
What was he playing at!

lol
the haynes manual was in german lol
the rebuild is because he hit that bit in the haynes that just says "reassembly is the reverse of removal" that leaves you with a bench full of parts and a confused look lol

Not really, All it says is
Its with regret that I place this up for sale.
The coscast head from my Turbo GTE. I have a receipt which I'll supply for a rebuild at AVA which lists:
Removal and stripping - 8hrs @ £35/hr (£280inc VAT)
Machining and overhaul - £368inc VAT
Rebuild and refit - 14hrs @ £35/hr (£490inc VAT)
The head was skimmed at this time. Since then its done no more than 10k since then in my Mk3 and then Mk2 Turbos. Always run on 10~40 vaux oil. The valve stem seals were also replaced when it was last out the car in September.
I had planned on keeping it and using it if and when I put another engine in my mk2 but desperate times call for desperate measures. http://www.migweb.co.uk/forums/images/smilies/frown.gif
It will be the head only you recieve, IE. no cams or inlet manifold.
Priced for a quick sale, £275.

Over £1100 to remove, overhaul and refit a head? They saw him coming didn't they!
Chemical clean (overnight bath) and skim at my local place was about £60 last time I had an 8v head done, gaskets, belt kit, waterpump, coolant another £100. I know I'm comparing a 1.3 8v to an XE/LET head (so maybe add £50 for the difference in parts prices), but jeese!
my mate got charged 300 to change a egr valve
they saw him coming
