it seems perfectly logical to me.. the felicia looks like a challenge car, so it would have been fitted with either a 1.3 or a 1.5 engine, basically from a golf, and tuning them would cost the earth. the xe fits easily, & as the skoda has a fairly large footprint, it would make a good club rally car.

ps. skoda jokes are so 1980's. I owned a rear engined 120L about 12 years ago & it was hilarious to drive, with the back end out everywhere.

My mate is building a monster Rapide at present. Says they're good cars too.

I'd say more 1990's for the jokes though, they were mostly sh!t designs until the demise of the Felicia IMO.

I was in the 80's... skodas won rallies & had crap jokes written by people who'd never ever driven one (mostly the Sun Newspaper IIRC)

the only thing that hampered skoda was lack of design budget due to the communists keeping the cash. they were genuinely good reliable cars

there was a rapide with a subaru engine in it that looked a right laugh
