what are the differences between 1300 and 1300sr?
i think the block is the same and the only differences are in the carb?
cheers

You mean like a 1300 mk2 astra engine (13s) and 13sr Nova (13SB)?

Very little I think. Think maybe just some early 13sr Novas came with a single choke carb.

I think most of the sr Novas then came with the twin choke pierburg 2e3 same as mk2 astra.

And iirc the mk1 astra 1300 came with a twin choke 'variajet' carb.

there is no physical difference on the engines at all, but the inlet manifolds & carbs are different.

watch out if using a mk1 astra as a donor, as the base model early ones only had 8.2-1 compression ratio & 60hp. the engine no. on the blocks doesn't have a 'S'.

Early (mk1 astra, nova's up to 85) - single choke carb (1B1) - 13S
Anything later than 85 - 2e3 carb - 13SB

mk1 astras have 2 specs on their own, s & non S....... as I stated above.

basically anything with 13s or 13sb is mechanically identical, but the carbs are different

nice, getting a 1300 from a nova but not a sr just basic spec.
sounds like it should be fine
cheers lads

I think the two engines are the same, but the 1300 s engine in the mk 2 astra is different because it produces more power. I think i has different carb and manifold.

the 13S and 13SB had slightly different CR's. the 13S also had the varijet carb (Mk1 astras and mk2 cavs) but was later fitted with the pierburg 2e carb same as later nova's.

there is a differnt head casting on some early MK1 Astra's which has a flatter direct to the valve port shape, sometime sought after in some oval racing circles.....
